Stacey Abrams is smart, hardworking, determined—and yes, a force. But being a Black woman doesn’t make you innately strong. And yet this kind of expectation has become a societal norm. As I reflected on the events last week, I realized that in some ways, we have made progress: We have made it possible for women like Abrams to fight and make change. But righting all the wrongs of the world requires more than we can ask from one woman.
